Mark Darwin of Sakura Tedco Racing Team continues his sizzling form in the Malaysian Championship Series (MCS) to score his fourth win in a row at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today to take over leadership for the premier Touring Production class.
Overall champion in the second-tier Malaysian Touring Car (MTC) championship last season, Darwin switched to the Touring Production class in Round 2 after a disastrous opening round and had been a revelation since by winning Round 2 endurance and two sprint races in Round 3.
Despite struggling in qualifying yesterday, Darwin, who drove a Honda FD2R for this round, found his pace and cruised to victory as his main rivals encountered various setbacks in the one-hour endurance race.
The Kuala Lumpur-based driver completed 22 laps of the 5,543-meter Formula 1 track in 1 hour 35.434 seconds to another 15 championship points and takes over the leadership from Alan Wong and Chris Tan of Pentagon Racing. Alan and Chris, who also had a poor qualifying session yesterday, continued their miserable performance today with a 10th place finishing to collect a single point. With just a round to go, they have a total of 48 points against Darwin’s collection of 60 points.
